Jym

Pro beta

Sit-up counter

Phone on the floor, on its side. Jym, the AI push-up counter, counts sit-ups from that side view, in Pro beta.

Count my sit-ups

Push-ups are free to start (one counted set a day). Sit-ups come with Jym Pro (beta), $6 a month or $29 a year.

Three steps to a counted set

  1. Switch to Sit-ups. In Jym, set the toggle to Push-ups | Squats | Sit-ups and pick Sit-ups (Pro beta).
  2. Phone on the floor, on its side. Long edge down, about an arm’s length from your hip. Point the lens at you so the camera sees you from the side, not the front. Head, hips and knees stay in frame. The sage skeleton and form ring show when it locks on.
  3. Lie back, then sit up. Sit up until your torso is about 70° from the floor, then lie back. That is one rep.

Light helps. A front-on view does not count: Jym needs the side so it can see the torso rise.

Two form notes, kept short

  • "Sit up higher." The torso did not clear about 70°. That rep does not count.
  • "Keep your feet down." Your feet came up. The rep still counts, with that note.

Because it's a beta, expect these to be tuned as more people use them.

Your sit-ups, tracked separately

Sit-up sets get their own stats, so they don't mix with your push-up or squat numbers. There's a Sit-ups tab on the leaderboard (sign in to join) and sit-up challenges. Share cards and the share video say sit-ups.

Your video isn't uploaded

The pose model runs in your browser, on your phone, and the video isn't uploaded. If you sign in, only the numbers are saved. More in does Jym upload your video?

Sit-ups are part of Jym Pro (beta)

Free to start (one counted set a day). No download and no account needed. The free set is for push-ups. Sit-ups are free to start, Pro $6/mo optional.

Jym Pro: $6 a month or $29 a year. Sit-up counting (Pro beta), squat counting (Pro beta), unlimited counted sets, the voice coach (one voice, three tones: hype, savage or calm; it's off on Free) and recordings, which are off by default and stay in the browser on that phone.

Questions

Does Jym count sit-ups?

Yes, as a Pro beta. Switch the toggle to Sit-ups (Pro beta). Jym counts one rep when you lie back, sit up until your torso is about 70° from the floor, and lie back.

Where should I put my phone to count sit-ups?

On the floor, on its side, long edge down, about an arm’s length from your hip. Point the lens at you so the camera sees you from the side, not the front. Keep your head, hips and knees in frame.

What counts as a sit-up?

Lie back so your shoulders are near the floor, sit up past about 70° from the floor, then lie back. A shorter sit-up does not count. Jym may say "Sit up higher."

What form notes does Jym give for sit-ups?

Two short ones: "Sit up higher." and "Keep your feet down." Feet coming up still counts, with that note. Because sit-ups are in beta, expect these to be tuned over time.

Do I need Pro to count sit-ups?

Sit-ups are in Pro beta. Free to start, Pro $6/mo optional. The free set is one counted push-up set a day. Sit-up counting comes with Jym Pro, $6 a month or $29 a year.

Do sit-ups mix with my push-up stats?

No. Sit-up sets have their own stats, a Sit-ups tab on the leaderboard (sign in to join) and sit-up challenges. Share cards say sit-ups, not push-up reps.

Does Jym upload my video?

No. The pose model runs in your browser, on your phone, and the video isn't uploaded. If you sign in, only the numbers are saved.

What does beta mean here?

Sit-up counting is new and still being tested, so it may change as it improves. Jym is still the AI push-up counter, and sit-ups are an extra in Pro.
