Getting started
What is Jym?
Jym is an AI push-up counter that uses your phone camera. It runs in your browser, counts your reps and gives short form notes as you go. It counts squats too, as a Pro beta.
Do I need to download an app?
No. Jym runs in your phone's browser, so there's nothing to install from an app store. You can add it to your home screen if you want it one tap away.
How do I add Jym to my home screen?
Open usejym.com in your browser and use its add-to-home-screen option. On iPhone, that's in Safari's Share menu. On Android, it's in Chrome's menu. The wording varies a little between browser versions.
Which phones and browsers does Jym work on?
Jym works best in a current browser that can use the camera: Safari on iPhone and Chrome on Android.
Where should I put my phone for push-ups?
Phone on the floor, you facing it, tilted up enough to see your whole body, head to feet. Wait until the skeleton turns green, then start your set.
Does Jym work offline?
No. Jym needs a connection to load, then counts on your phone.

Privacy
Does Jym upload my video?
No. The pose model runs in your browser, on your phone, and the video isn't uploaded. If you sign in, only the numbers are saved: time, length, rep count and form score.
What does Jym save if I sign in?
Your sets (start time, length, rep count, how many of those reps the camera counted, and a form score), your streak, your display name and any challenges you start. The written form notes stay on your phone.
Where do recordings go?
Recording is a Pro feature, and it's off by default. The clip and its pose sketch are stored in the browser on that phone, and Jym doesn't receive them. Clearing the site's data in your browser deletes them.
Does the voice coach send anything?
Only for the spoken finish line, and only if the coach is on. Your rep count and best are sent as a short sentence so it can be spoken. The camera picture isn't sent, and the other coach lines are audio files on the site.

Free vs Pro
How much does Jym cost?
Jym is free to start (one counted set a day). Jym Pro is $6 a month or $29 a year and adds unlimited sets, the voice coach, recordings and squats (Pro beta).
What counts as my one free set?
One counted push-up set a day. A demo set doesn't count towards it. Without an account, the limit is on the phone you're using. With an account, it follows the account. Squats aren't part of the free set.
What does Pro add?
Unlimited counted sets, the voice coach (one voice, three tones: hype, savage or calm; it's off on Free), recordings (off by default) that stay on your phone, and squat counting as a Pro beta.
How does paying for Pro work?
Pro is a subscription paid through Stripe, priced in US dollars. Checkout may show the same price in your local currency. It renews automatically at the end of each month or year until you cancel.
How do I cancel Pro?
Use Manage billing in your account. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and you keep Pro until the end of the period you've already paid for. Deleting your account also cancels Pro.
Can I get a refund?
Our termss](/terms) include a 14-day cancellation right for new subscriptions, with a refund. At checkout, you're asked to agree that this right ends once you use a Pro feature: an extra set beyond the free one, the coach or a recording. If you haven't used one, you can still cancel within 14 days for a refund. The terms say who it applies to.
Do you have promo codes?
Sometimes, from creators we work with. A creator code usually gives a 7-day Pro trial. Open the creator's link, or go to usejym.com/?code=CODE, and the code is applied when you upgrade to Pro.

Counting and form
What does Jym count as a push-up?
A full rep: from straight arms, down, and back up to straight arms. Jym follows the angle at your elbows to decide.
When does counting start?
When Jym has locked on. For push-ups, the skeleton turns green when it has you, and reps start after that.
What form notes does Jym give for push-ups?
Short ones as you go: Hips sagging, Hips too high, Short range, No lockout, Head dropped and Uneven shoulders. It doesn't check hand position, so keep an eye on that yourself.
Can I add or remove a rep?
Yes. If Jym can't see you or loses you mid-set, tap Add a rep, and you can remove one too. Challenges only use reps the camera counts.
Will the count always be right?
Not always. Rep counts and form notes can be wrong: lighting, the camera angle and how you're framed all affect the count. Good light and your whole body in frame help most.
How does the voice coach work?
It's one voice with three tones: hype, savage or calm. Hype is the default. The coach comes with Pro and is off on Free, and you can switch it off whenever you like.

Squats (Pro beta)
Does Jym count squats?
Yes, as a Pro beta. Switch the toggle to Squats (Pro beta) and Jym counts full squats, down and back up, with short form notes as you go.
Do I need Pro to count squats?
Yes. Squat counting is part of Jym Pro while it's in beta. Push-ups are free to start (one counted set a day). Squats come with Jym Pro, $6 a month or $29 a year.
Where should I put my phone for squats?
Prop the phone up 2 to 3 metres away at a 45° angle, and step back until your whole body is in frame, head to feet. Jym tells you when it locks on: stand tall, then squat.
What counts as a squat, and what is beginner depth?
A full squat: down, then back up to standing. If full depth isn't there yet, the beginner depth setting counts squats a little above full depth and says "Go a bit lower." It's on for your first 3 squat sets, and you can switch it on or off.
What form notes does Jym give for squats?
Four short ones: "Go a bit lower.", "Push your knees out.", "Keep your heels down." and "Chest up." Because squats are in beta, expect them to be tuned over time.
Where do my squats show up?
Squats get their own stats, a squats tab on the leaderboard (sign in to join) and squat challenges.

Account and leaderboard
Do I need an account?
No. You can count without signing in. Signing in lets your sets follow you to another phone and adds the leaderboard and challenge invites. Recordings stay on the phone they were made on.
How do I sign in?
With Google, X, or an email and password. Jym never sees your Google or X password.
How does the leaderboard work?
Anyone can look at the board without an account. To join, sign in and turn on Show my reps, which is off unless you turn it on. Your display name, profile photo, rep totals and streak are then public, and your email isn't shown. Turn it off to leave the board. Names that are offensive or pretend to be someone else break the terms, and Jym can change them or remove them from the board.
How do I download or delete my data?
Go to Account settings at usejym.com/account. Download my sets saves your sets as a JSON file (jym-sets.json). Clear and restart wipes your sets, challenges and recordings but keeps the account. Delete account removes your sets, your name on the board and your sign-in, and cancels Pro. Each one asks twice, and neither can be undone.
