Automatic rep counter
Phone on the floor, you facing it. Jym counts the reps as you go. Push-ups are free to start. Squats are in Pro beta.
Free to start (one counted set a day). Squats come with Jym Pro (beta), $6 a month or $29 a year. Nothing to download.
It counts the rep. You don't tap.
An automatic rep counter watches the movement and adds one when you finish it. Jym finds your joints in the camera picture, on your phone, and counts when the rep is complete.
For push-ups that means straight arms, down, and back up to straight arms. For squats (Pro beta) it means down and back up to standing.
Three steps, then just do the set
- Open Jym and allow the camera. It runs in the browser. There is nothing to install.
- Get your whole body in frame. Push-ups: phone on the floor, you facing it. Squats (Pro beta): phone propped up, about 2–3 metres away, at a 45° angle.
- Press Start. The skeleton goes green when Jym has locked on. Counting starts after that.
Push-ups, and squats in Pro beta
Push-ups are the main count. Jym notes hips, depth, lockout and shoulders as you go.
Squats (Pro beta) are a separate exercise. Switch to Squats (Pro beta) and Jym counts full squats, with short notes if your depth, knees, heels or chest slip. Squat sets stay on their own tally, so they don't mix with your push-up numbers.
More on each one: push-up counter and squat counter (Pro beta).
